Amid the controversy the line-up change, both Heidi Range and Amelle Berrabah stated that in fact they quit the group, having been the subject of what they described as ‘put downs’ from Keisha for over a year. They went on to say that when they made the decision to leave the group, Island Records had offered to follow them and replace Buchanan. The new member, Jade Ewen, was flown to the US to film the music video for single About a Girl mere days after it was annouced that Keisha had left the group.

The new line-up’s first performance took place on morning show GMTV, where they sang the second single from Sweet 7, “About a Girl”, followed by a performance at BBC1′s Live Lounge where they sang “About a Girl” once again, along with “Rabbit Heart”, a cover of the Florence and the Machine single. “About A Girl” went on to reach number 8 in the UK, despite having almost no promotion due to Amelle Berrabah flying to Austria for treatment for nervous exhaustion suffered during the line-up change. In late 2009, it was confirmed that “Wear My Kiss” would be released on 22 February 2010 as the third single, with the album, originally set for a late November 2009 release, delayed until 15 March 2010. “Wear My Kiss” peaked at number 7 in the UK, making Sweet 7 the first album since 2005′s Taller In More Ways to contain at least three top ten hits. Despite this and its high-profile production team however, the album debuted and peaked at number 14, making it the group’s lowest charting album since 2000′s One Touch, the only album to feature none of the current group’s members.

In mid-March, Digital Spy and the media reported that the Sugababes had been dropped by Roc Nation. However, on 26 March 2010, the Sugababes released a statement on their website in which they revealed that they had never actually been signed to Roc Nation in order to release music in the US. The contract had in fact been signed so that they could utilize the label’s services to produce the album, giving the group access to high profile music producers. The group also revealed that they planned to release ‘new music’ very soon
