Emily Procter is a native North Carolinian raised in Raleigh. She graduated from Ravenscroft School, and then attended East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina, where she earned a degree in Broadcasting while also studying dance. While in college she did her first work on television for WITN, a local NBC affiliate, as a “weather girl”.

Emily Procter also had a recurring guest role as Associate White House Counsel Ainsley Hayes on NBC’s The West Wing.

She landed her breakthrough with the role of Calleigh Duquesne in the television series CSI: Miami, which has been running on American television since 2002. She took the role after consulting with her friend Jorja Fox.

Emily Procter participated in 2007′s LiveEarth by reading (along with several other actresses) an essay written by Michelle Gardner-Quinn while Gardner-Quinn was a student at the University of Vermont

A few months after college graduation she was considering moving to New York to pursue her acting career. Emily received a call from another Raleigh-born actress, Sharon Lawrence, advising her to save herself five years and suggesting that she move directly to Los Angles. Emily’s parents were supportive of her decision to move west and offered to pay for two years of acting classes considering this her “graduate school”.

Upon arriving in California Emily earned her Screen Actors Guild card by working as an extra in several television shows and films. Her early work includes filming several television pilots and small movie roles in Leaving Las Vegas and Jerry Maguire. She also made memorable appearances in several well-known television shows such as Friends, Lois & Clark, Early Edition and Just Shoot Me.
